Fear and Kindness of the Lord

A prayer asking for a balance in our lives between walking in a fear of God (keeping us from sin) and in an awareness of his love (keeping us close to Him) and our relaying that love to others. We find it hard to be kind and love others if we don't yet comprehend that we are loved ourselves.

Lyrics

May the fear of the Lord be upon me
May I hate evil as you do
Focused only on your holiness and power
I will certainly be true
May the kindness of the Lord be upon me
May I love my neighbor as I should
God's heart is for me is
To show his kindness
And with Jesus
I know I could
When I look to you
I can see
Though the darkness is around me
When I trust in your word and go forward in faith
Then this revelation comes to me
Let the fear of the Lord keep me from sin
And the kindness of the Lord keep me close to him
For we must have both to go the way
If we don't we'll be led astray
Let the fear of the Lord keep me from sin
May the kindness of the Lord keep me close to him
For we must have both to go the way
If we don't we'll be led astray
Yes, we must have both to go the way
If we don't, we'll be led astray

“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen” - Romans 11:36
